GUYS! I’m loving the super dewy, ‘glass’ skin look lately – especially for summer when moisture is basically inevitable. A little bit of highlighter can make your skin look incredibly healthy and supple, which is why I’m breaking down the process of how I achieve my glowiest look.
First things first, skin. I start my makeup look off with a skin tint to create an even base (my skin is a little bit red / uneven). I like Glossier’s because it’s super light-weight but still provides enough coverage, and it creates that ‘wet’ finish to start off. Next, I layer that with Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk Foundation, which is absolutely essential in creating a dewy base. It’s a must. The key to a glow-y look is to try and use all liquid formulas on the face, because powders tend to give more of a matte finish, so I figure the more luminous foundations I use, the dewier my skin gets lol. Next, I go in with a light layer of powdered bronzer (bronzer is difficult to do in a liquid, so powder it is) to add a bit of colour to my skin, then add a flush to my cheeks with NARS liquid blush. Last, the most important part of achieving a dewy glow – highlighter. I use two different formulas in the Becca highlighters because the shinier the better :). I start by making a ‘C’ shape from my temple/above my brow, down my cheek bone with the liquid highlighter, then I make the highlight pop with the powder formula.
I think the best way to make dewy skin stand out is to keep things low key and natural on the eyes. I go in with a neutral beige (furtherest shade to the left in the NYX palette) to create a base on my lids, then I go into my crease with the darkest shade (furtherest to the right) to create dimension. I add a bit of life to my eyes (I have blonde lashes, so it’s much needed) by using a thin shadow brush to shade underneath my lower lash line with the darkest brown shade. Once the shadow has been applied, I draw a thin, winged line on my upper lash line starting in the middle of my lid and working my way out. I try not to line my entire upper lid because it’s a bit dramatic of a look for me – especially if you’re going for a dewy glow. Finish off the eyes with a subtle filling in of the brows – Glossier’s Boy Brow in shade blonde does it best for me! Oh, and don’t forget to add a bit of the Becca liquid highlighter above and underneath your brow on the brow bone :).
If you’re going to do the dewy look you may as well go all out and give yourself high-shine on the lips too. Go with a super glossy ..gloss (lol) like NYX Cosmetics’ #THISISEVERYTHING Lip Oil. It feels super moisturizing and it’s not sticky at all, so you don’t have to worry about getting your hair stuck on your lips. Finish off the look by enhancing your glossy lips with a liquid highlighter. Draw a line with the highlighter around your Cupid’s Bow and place a tiny dot underneath the centre of your lower lip and blend!
